The New Fashion Colour Trend Report for A/W22: London Fashion Week

  • by Scarlet Destiny Admin

Pantone, the global colour authority, has revealed the Fashion Colour Trend report for Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 for London Fashion Week. The purpose of the report is to showcase the predictions of what we can expect to see on the catwalk, including bold hues as well as neutral tones. It comes after the company announced Very Peri as the Colour of the Year for 2022, so it’s exciting to see a new wide range of predictions.

The colour palette reveals an obvious contrast through top ten standout colours and five core classics. Current lifestyle trends are incorporated into the colour predictions, including the fusion of the nature-centric craving for wellbeing and the hope for happiness and positivity. Bold red, green, yellow, and orange are seen in the brighter hues, whilst calmer colours like blue, pink, and brown are included in the neutral tones.

“As we look into the future, we see two emerging paths that while completely diverse, are inevitably interconnected. The intense dichotomy comes through in our colour choices for AW22, where we see bold and brash colours lend themselves to exaggerated statements reflecting our desire to embrace life with full vigour, coalescing with an array of neutral and natural tones that embody a sense of calm and containment and satisfy our need for harmony and tranquillity.” - Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

It's interesting to see colours similar to the Scarlet Destiny branding in the report. Do you think we will in fact see these hues at London Fashion week for AW22/23?

Plus, with the recent announcement of the Metaverse Fashion Week, it raises the question of whether these colours will appear in a digital world or a physical world. Of course, an in-person runway is traditional in the fashion industry, and will most likely stick around for eternity. But, digital fashion is becoming a huge part of our lives more and more, so we can only wonder what it will alter in the future.

Given the transformations that could happen in the industry, we can only wonder how this will also affect colour themes. We expect to see plent of bold colours, and while the recent trend report does contain thee, it also contains a lot of neutral tones. With the rise in technology, we predict that earth colours will make no more appearances as they don’t particularly connotate anything digital-related.

But the industry is unpredictable, so we could see something completely shocking. What colours do you expect to see in the future?
